Pool FROG 6100 Reservoir + 12 Bac Pacs: The Biggest Above-Ground Pool FROG Supply in One Order

Order once and an above-ground Pool FROG can run most or all of the swim season on what's in this box. A new reservoir keeps FROG Sanitizing Minerals working for up to six months, and twelve Bac Pacs keep the low chlorine level going, so the water stays soft, clear and fresh on up to 50% less chlorine*.

That means no tracking pac counts or watching for sales in July. When a pac runs dry, the next one is waiting, and every cartridge is prefilled and sealed. Owners at a lake house or with a long season get a full shelf of supplies without placing a dozen separate orders.

In the box: one Series 6100 Mineral Reservoir 25K (01-12-6112) for above-ground pools up to 25,000 gallons and twelve 2.2 lb Bac Pacs (01-03-5880). Both are made for the Pool FROG Model 6100. At FROG's 1–3 weeks per pac, twelve last roughly 12–36 weeks.

A Season's Worth on the Shelf

Twelve pacs at 1–3 weeks each can carry many above-ground pools from opening to closing, and the reservoir covers the same stretch on the mineral side.

Never Caught Without a Pac

Chlorine that slips below 0.5 ppm for days invites cloudy water. With a stack of spares, the swap happens the day you notice.

One Order, One Delivery

Everything for the Model 6100's cartridges arrives together, so reordering doesn't need to be on your summer to-do list.

Price Note Priced the same as the 6100 reservoir and a Bac Pac 12 Pack bought separately

How to Set Up the 6100 and Work Through a 12-Pac Supply

  1. Shut off the pump: Turn the pump off and set the cycler's control dial to Setting 0 to reduce water flow into the unit.
  2. Open the cycler: Unscrew the cap by hand and step back for a moment so any chlorine fumes can clear.
  3. Lift out the Bac Pac: Set the pac aside if tablets remain. It goes back in after the swap or can be stored for winter.
  4. Discard the old reservoir: Remove the used reservoir and put it in the trash. It can't be refilled.
  5. Drop in the new one: Line up the slot on the side of the new reservoir with the fin inside the cycler and lower it until it sits firmly.
  6. Replace the pac and cap: Set the Bac Pac back into the reservoir's open center, then thread the cap on by hand without over-tightening.
  7. Restart and set a reminder: Return the dial to your setting, switch the pump on and mark the calendar for 6 months out.

6100 Season Start-Up Order

Order Step Detail
1 Balance and shock pH 7.2–7.8 and total alkalinity 80–120 ppm, then shock
2 Install the reservoir Side slot to the cycler fin, lowered until secure
3 Run on Setting 10 About 10 minutes with the cap on (Setting 10 is the top of the dial)
4 FROG BAM (optional) Bottle upside down in the reservoir center; pump 90 minutes on Setting 10; remove the empty bottle at Setting 0
5 Wait for chlorine When free chlorine reads 1.0 ppm, which may take a few days, insert the Bac Pac
6 Set the dial Use the Model 6100 chart for pool size, pump size and run time

Based on the Pool FROG Model 6100 manual's start-up sequence. Skip step 4 if you aren't using FROG BAM.

Pool FROG 6100 Season Calendar

When What to Do
First week Test free chlorine daily; adjust the dial in ½ steps
Weekly Test chlorine, pH and alkalinity; empty the skimmer and pump baskets
Every other week Shock the pool directly, not through the cycler (non-chlorine shock preferred; chlorine shock is OK)
About every 1–3 weeks Change the Bac Pac
Every 90 days Add FROG BAM if you use it for algae prevention
Every 6 months or one season Replace the Mineral Reservoir, whichever comes first

Based on the Pool FROG Model 6100 manual and FROG's Model 6100 product page.

Model 6100 Starting Dial Settings, 12-Hour Pump Run

7,000 (18') 4.5 4.0 3.0 5.0^
9,000 (21') 5.0 4.5 4.0 5.5^

20,000 NR 6.0 5.5 5.0
25,000 NR 6.5 6.0 5.5

Excerpted from the Pool FROG Model 6100 manual. ^ means a bypass installation is recommended; NR means that pump size isn't recommended for that pool size. The manual also gives 8-hour and 24-hour columns. Treat these as starting points: test free chlorine daily for the first week and adjust to hold 0.5–1.0 ppm.

Compatibility Notes

Before You Buy

  • Fits the Pool FROG Model 6100 above-ground cycler, which FROG rates for pools up to 25,000 gallons.
  • Does not fit the Pool FROG Model 5400 or XL PRO in-ground cyclers. They use the larger 40K reservoir. Check the box top and back label against your cycler.
  • All twelve Bac Pacs also fit a Model 5400, but the reservoir here is for the 6100 only.
  • The label says it works with pool chemicals except biguanides (PHMB systems).
  • The Model 6100 manual says not to install the cycler off-line, and not in copper pipe when Bac Pacs are the chlorine source.
  • Never put loose tablets, fast-dissolving chlorine, liquid bleach or calcium hypochlorite in the cycler.

Why Choose the 6100 Reservoir and 12 Bac Pac Supply

Add FROG BAM at opening for 90-day algae prevention, and keep FROG Test Strips handy for weekly checks. Frequently Asked Questions

Does this supply fit every Pool FROG?

Only the Model 6100. Bac Pacs are shared with the in-ground 5400, yet the Series 6100 reservoir in this box is shaped for the above-ground cycler, so 5400 and XL PRO pools need a different reservoir.

Will the reservoir last as long as all twelve pacs?

Maybe not. The reservoir is good for up to 6 months from first wetting, while twelve pacs can stretch to about 36 weeks in a light-use pool. Long seasons may need a second reservoir.

How long do twelve Bac Pacs last?

Roughly 12–36 weeks at FROG's 1–3 weeks per pac. Heat, heavy swimming and larger pools land at the short end.

How are the twelve pacs packed?

The twelve pacs are FROG's Bac Pac 12 Pack, shipped in the same order as the reservoir. Each pac arrives sealed with its colored caps on.

Should I use the oldest pacs first?

Yes. Store them sealed and use them in the order you received them, so none sit in the garage longer than needed.

What if I have pacs left at closing?

Keep sealed pacs in a cool, dry, ventilated place away from other chemicals, and they'll be ready next spring with a fresh reservoir.

Does a full season of trichlor pacs build up stabilizer?

It can. Trichlor adds cyanuric acid over time. Keep it between 20 and 80 ppm, and partly drain and refill if it goes higher.

Is it safe to store twelve pacs in the garage?

Yes, if the spot is cool, dry and ventilated, away from heat, lawn chemicals, fuel, acids and calcium hypochlorite, and out of reach of children and pets.

Is there a discount for buying twelve?

No. $117.95 for the reservoir plus $359.40 for twelve pacs equals the $477.35 price. Buying it as a kit saves a separate order, not money.

How heavy is the shipment?

About 31 lb, since twelve pacs each hold 2.2 lb of trichlor plus the reservoir and packaging.

Can I start a brand-new 6100 with this kit?

Yes. Balance and shock the water, install the reservoir, run 10 minutes on Setting 10, then insert the first pac once free chlorine reads 1.0 ppm.

How do I change a pac on a 6100?

Pump off, dial to 0, unscrew the cap by hand, lift out the old pac, uncap the new one, line up the small leg with the small opening, lower it in and close the cap by hand.

Is this practical for a rental or vacation pool?

Yes. Leave the spare pacs and the swap steps with whoever checks the pool, so they can change a pac without ordering anything.

How often should I test the water?

Daily for the first week while you tune the dial, then weekly. Aim for 0.5–1.0 ppm free chlorine and pH of 7.2–7.8.

Do you have a smaller 6100 bundle?

Plenty. Twelve pacs is our largest 6100 supply; the lighter choices are three or six pacs, three pacs with FROG BAM, or just the reservoir.

Safety Notes

Handle With Care

  • The reservoir label carries the Caution signal word. Keep it out of reach of children.
  • Don't put any other pac or bulk chemical in the reservoir. The label warns this can damage the reservoir, pool or equipment.
  • If a reservoir breaks and loose minerals reach the pool, the label says to vacuum them out.
  • After 6 months, discard the reservoir in the trash even if media still rattles inside. Don't reuse or refill it.
  • The Bac Pac label carries the Danger signal word: corrosive, causes irreversible eye damage and skin burns, may be fatal if inhaled or absorbed through skin, and harmful if swallowed. Wear eye protection and gloves when handling pacs.
  • The Bac Pac's trichlor is a strong oxidizer. Keep pacs away from calcium hypochlorite, other chlorine types, acids and organic matter, and store them sealed in a cool, dry, ventilated spot apart from other chemicals.
  • For shipping, the Bac Pac Safety Data Sheet classes the pacs as UN2468, Class 5.1 oxidizer.
  • Stay within the Model 6100's 50 psi and 104°F limits, turn off the pump before opening the cycler, and stand back from fumes when the cap is off.
  • Read the reservoir label, your Model 6100 manual and each Safety Data Sheet before use.
