Description
Flippin' FROG 4 Month Bundle+: Above-Ground Pool Sanitizer and Algaecide in One Kit
Here's a complete summer kit for above-ground pools that handles both bacteria and algae. Flippin' FROG sanitizes with minerals and low chlorine, and the FROG BAM algaecide in the box adds a separate layer against the algae low-chlorine pools tend to see in hot weather.
You don't need a feeder. Float the system, then pour BAM around the pool's edge with the pump running. One bottle helps keep algae away for 90 days, and you've got four spare chlorine cartridges for the season.
The kit has the Flippin' FROG floater, four replacement chlorine cartridges (five in all, about 4 months of sanitizing) and a 24 fl oz bottle of FROG BAM, a copper-based algaecide. It's sized for above-ground pools of 2,000–5,000 gallons.
Sanitizer and Algae Prevention Together
Flippin' FROG handles bacteria with minerals and a low level of chlorine. FROG BAM adds a separate layer against algae, the problem low-chlorine pools see most in hot weather.
One Bottle Covers Your Pool for 90 Days
BAM's label dose is one bottle for any pool up to 15,000 gallons every 3 months. A Flippin' FROG pool is well under that, so a single pour at opening carries you through roughly the first three months.
A Full Summer of Chlorine Cartridges
There's one chlorine cartridge in the system and four spares, five in all. At 3–4 weeks each, that's around 4 months before you need to reorder.
Easy With a Floater
There's no feeder to load. With the pump running, pour BAM around the edge of the pool and let it circulate for an hour.

How to Start Flippin' FROG and Add FROG BAM
- Get the pool ready: Make sure the pump and filter turn the whole pool over 1–2 times a day, usually 8–12 hours of run time, and that the filter is clean.
- Balance the water: Bring alkalinity to 80–120 ppm first, then pH to 7.2–7.8, hardness to 200–400 ppm and stabilizer to 20–80 ppm.
- Shock with chlorine: Add a chlorine shock (not non-chlorine) to clear contaminants and set a chlorine residual. The manual calls this step very important.
- Assemble the floater: Unwrap both cartridges, line up the arrow on the blue chlorine cartridge with the unlock symbol on the green mineral cartridge, push together and twist to lock.
- Set the dial: Twist the mineral cartridge opposite the chlorine cartridge until your setting number lines up with the arrow.
- Tether it: Tie it to the pool side with the included cord, away from the skimmer and return jets.
- Balance, then shock: Set up the pool as above and shock it. Before adding BAM, make sure pH is 7.2–7.8 and free chlorine is no more than 4.0 ppm.
- Pour around the edge: With the pump running, pour the whole bottle of FROG BAM directly into the pool around the perimeter, at least 3 feet from the Flippin' FROG.
- Circulate: Keep circulation on for at least 1 hour.
- Wait on other chemicals: Let BAM circulate (filter) for 24 hours before adding anything else.
- Repeat every 90 days: Use another bottle every 3 months during the season and once before winterizing.
Flippin' FROG Initial Dial Setting Chart
| Pool Diameter | Gallons | Setting # |
|---|---|---|
| 12 ft | 2,000 | 1 |
| 12 ft | 2,500 | 2 |
| 15 ft | 3,000 | 3 |
| 15 ft | 3,500 | 4 |
| 15–16 ft | 4,000 | 5 |
| 15–16 ft | 4,500 | 6 |
| 18 ft | 5,000 | 7 |
From the Flippin' FROG manual. To find gallons, multiply diameter × diameter × water depth (ft) × 5.9. Even setting 0 releases some chlorine. Retest 24 hours after any change.
FROG BAM Dosage (Label)
| Use | Pools up to 15,000 gal | Pools 15,000–30,000 gal |
|---|---|---|
| Prevention, every 3 months | 1 bottle | 2 bottles |
| Treating existing algae | 2 bottles | 4 bottles |
One bottle is the preventive dose for any pool up to 15,000 gallons, which covers every pool Flippin' FROG is made for. Clearing algae that's already growing takes double.
Flippin' FROG Water Balance Guidelines
| Test | Target Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Total alkalinity | 80–120 ppm | Adjust first, even if it moves pH further off |
| 2. pH | 7.2–7.8 | Then add a pH adjuster if needed |
| 3. Total hardness | 200–400 ppm | Add calcium hardness increaser if under 200 |
| 4. Stabilizer (cyanuric acid) | 20–80 ppm | Add conditioner under 20; partly drain and refill above 80 |
| Total dissolved solids | Under 1,500 | |
| Free chlorine with Flippin' FROG | 0.5–1.0 ppm | Hold this range at all times |
The Flippin' FROG manual says to add balancers in small amounts, one at a time with circulation running, and to wait 8–12 hours before testing again. (The 6-hour wait often quoted for hot tubs doesn't apply here.)
Compatibility Notes
Before You Buy
- For above-ground pools of 2,000–5,000 gallons, up to 18 ft in diameter. Bigger pools need two systems or Flippin' FROG XL.
- The spare chlorine cartridges are the standard blue Flippin' FROG cartridges. They don't fit Flippin' FROG XL.
- Not for hot tubs or swim spas.
- Use FROG test strips to read the low 0.5–1.0 ppm chlorine target accurately.
- Don't use FROG BAM with any other copper-based product, such as copper algaecides or copper ionizers.
Which Flippin' FROG Product Do I Need?
| Product | What's Inside | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Flippin' FROG System | Green mineral + blue chlorine cartridge, tether | Start of each season |
| Flippin' FROG Chlorine Cartridge, 1 Pack | 1 blue chlorine cartridge | One 3–4 week refill |
| Flippin' FROG Chlorine Cartridge, 4 Pack | 4 blue chlorine cartridges | About 12–16 weeks of refills |
| System plus 4 Chlorine Cartridges | The system plus 4 spare cartridges (5 in all) | About 4 months |
| System plus 4 Cartridges and FROG BAM (this listing) | The 4-month bundle plus 1 bottle of FROG BAM | About 4 months plus 90 days of algae prevention |
These are the standard half-sphere cartridges for pools of 2,000–5,000 gallons. Flippin' FROG XL uses a larger, rounded-rectangle cartridge for bigger pools, and the two don't interchange.

Frequently Asked Questions
What comes in the Flippin' FROG 4 Month Bundle+?
Three products in one box: the Flippin' FROG floater (which already holds a mineral cartridge and one chlorine cartridge, with a tether), a set of 4 refill cartridges, and a 24 fl oz FROG BAM algae preventive.
Is this the same as the Flippin' FROG 4 Month Bundle+ sold by other retailers?
Yes. The 4 Month Bundle+ sold elsewhere lists the same three parts, the system, the chlorine cartridges and FROG BAM, and the same UPC, 722906005179.
What is FROG BAM?
It's FROG's 90-day algae preventive. The active ingredient is a copper triethanolamine complex at 10.03%, which works alongside your sanitizer to keep algae from taking hold.
How do I add FROG BAM with a Flippin' FROG?
With the pump on, pour the bottle straight into the pool around the edge and let it circulate for an hour. Keep it at least 3 feet away from the floater.
Is one bottle enough for my pool?
Yes for prevention. The label calls for one bottle for pools up to 15,000 gallons every 3 months, and Flippin' FROG pools top out around 5,000 gallons.
When should I use FROG BAM?
At the start of the season, again every 3 months while the pool is open, and once more before winterizing so the pool opens cleaner in spring.
Can I add FROG BAM right after shocking?
Test first. The label says pH should be 7.2–7.8 and chlorine no higher than 4.0 ppm before you add BAM. Then wait 24 hours before adding other chemicals.
Can I use FROG BAM with other algaecides?
Not with other copper-based products. FROG BAM's directions say not to combine it with any other copper product.
Will one bottle clear algae that's already growing?
Probably not. The label's treatment dose is two bottles for pools up to 15,000 gallons. For existing algae, the Flippin' FROG manual also points to FROG Algae Gone, along with brushing and 24-hour circulation.
Does FROG BAM come with a guarantee?
FROG offers a 90-day algae protection guarantee: if algae appears within 90 days of dosing, FROG says it will send enough BAM to clean up the pool. Check FROG's guarantee terms for details.
Is the Bundle+ cheaper than buying the pieces?
No. At HotTubPirate.com it's priced the same as the Flippin' FROG system, a 4 pack of chlorine cartridges and a bottle of FROG BAM bought separately. You get it all in one shipment.
How long will everything in this bundle last?
The five chlorine cartridges cover roughly 15–20 weeks. The mineral cartridge lasts the season, and the BAM dose protects for 90 days, so plan a second bottle if you swim past 3 months.
Do I need protective gear to pour FROG BAM?
The label carries the Warning signal word and calls for long sleeves, pants, waterproof gloves and a NIOSH-approved particulate respirator while handling, plus washing up afterward.
What pH does FROG BAM need?
Keep pH between 7.2 and 7.8. For severe algae, the directions say to lower pH to 7.2 before treating.
Can I drain treated water onto my lawn or street?
Check local rules first. The label says not to discharge treated water to a gutter, storm drain, pond or stream unless state and local authorities allow it, because it's toxic to fish.
Safety Notes
Handle With Care
- The chlorine cartridge label carries the Danger signal word. It's corrosive: it causes irreversible eye damage and skin burns, may be fatal if absorbed through skin or inhaled, and is harmful if swallowed.
- Strong oxidizer. Moisture, dirt or other pool chemicals can start a reaction that releases heat and hazardous gas. Never use it in a feeder that has held calcium hypochlorite or other unstabilized chlorine.
- Never add chlorine, pH adjusters, shock or algaecide through the skimmer or within 3 feet of the Flippin' FROG.
- Don't open or refill a cartridge. Wash with soap and water after handling.
- If it gets in your eyes, hold them open and rinse slowly with water for 15–20 minutes, removing contact lenses after the first 5 minutes, then call a poison control center or doctor.
- Store spares in the original container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from heat, open flame, children and pets. Toxic to fish; shake an empty cartridge over the pool before recycling or discarding it.
- The green mineral cartridge label carries the Caution signal word. After 6 months or one season, throw it away even if you hear particles inside. Once it's been wet, it can't be dried and reused.
- The FROG BAM label carries the Warning signal word. It may be fatal if inhaled and is harmful if swallowed or absorbed through skin. Don't breathe vapor or mist.
- The label calls for long sleeves, long pants, socks, shoes, waterproof chemical-resistant gloves and a NIOSH-approved particulate respirator while handling. Wash your hands afterward.
- Don't use it with any other copper-based product. It's toxic to fish, so never drain treated water to a storm drain, gutter, pond or stream unless local rules allow it.
- The Flippin' FROG is not a toy. Keep it tethered, and don't let a partly used chlorine cartridge sink to the floor, or the liner can bleach.
- Read every label, the Flippin' FROG manual and the Safety Data Sheets before use.
