How to Use FROG DropH
- Test first: Test the water with FROG Test Strips. If total alkalinity is above 120 ppm, lower it with DropH before you work on pH.
- Read the chart: Use the chart on the DropH bottle to find how much to add, then measure that amount in the TruDose Cap.
- Jets on, cover off: With the jets running and no one in the hot tub, pour DropH into the water. Leave the cover off while the jets run.
- Run jets 10–15 minutes: Let the jets run 10–15 minutes, then test the water again.
- Repeat if needed: Repeat until pH reads 7.2–7.6 and alkalinity reads 80–120 ppm, then move on to hardness and sanitizer.

How much DropH do I add?
Go by the bottle chart, which is repeated in the table above. A 400-gallon hot tub reading above 7.6 takes 1 tablespoon; above 8.0 it takes 1½. Adding a little less and retesting is safer than overshooting below 7.2.
Do I lower alkalinity or pH first?
Alkalinity. FROG's directions say to get total alkalinity to 80–120 ppm before adjusting pH. Because DropH lowers both, fixing a high alkalinity reading often brings pH down with it, so test again before adding more.
How long after adding DropH can I retest?
FROG's DropH guide says to run the jets for 10 to 15 minutes and then test again, repeating until pH is between 7.2 and 7.6.
Will DropH work with my FROG system or regular chlorine?

Will topping off with fresh water lower my pH?
