Description

Clear Stubborn Cloudy Water Two Ways

BAQUACIL® Filter Aid and Flocculant is an iron-free aluminum sulfate compound, the same type of clarifier used for years by municipal water authorities. It treats persistent haze and clarifies cloudy pool water.

Use it as a filter aid to help your filter catch fine particles, or as a broadcast flocculant to drop heavy cloudiness to the floor for vacuuming. It is compatible with chlorine, bromine and BAQUACIL® pools.

Filter Aid for Mild Haze

Added to the skimmer with the pump running, the flocculant coats the filter so it can trap particles too fine to catch on their own. BAQUACIL uses this method in its water mold and Line Clean procedures.

Broadcast Floc for Heavy Cloudiness

When you cannot see the pool floor, broadcast the flocculant across the surface and shut the pump off. Particles bind together and settle, so you can vacuum them straight to waste.

BAQUACIL also recommends broadcast floc before treating moderate to heavy algae.

Iron-Free Formula

The iron-free aluminum sulfate formula clarifies without adding iron that could stain surfaces.

How to Use

  1. Clean the filter: Chemically clean the filter first and raise the water level, since vacuuming to waste will lower it.
  2. Dissolve: Dissolve 1.5 lb per 10,000 gallons in a bucket of water.
  3. Broadcast: Pour the solution evenly around the whole pool.
  4. Let it settle: Shut the pump off for 24 to 48 hours.
  5. Vacuum to waste: Vacuum the settled sediment to waste, not through the filter.
  6. Rebalance: Refill, rebalance the water and resume normal filtration. Repeat if needed. For filter-aid use, follow the label's skimmer directions.

Important Compatibility and Safety Notes

Compatibility

Compatible with chlorine, bromine and BAQUACIL pools. When used as a broadcast flocculant, always vacuum to waste; sending the floc through a sand, D.E. or cartridge filter can clog the media.

Safety First

Warning: contains iron-free aluminum sulfate. Can irritate eyes, skin, mucous membranes and the respiratory tract, and is harmful if swallowed. Wear safety glasses and gloves, avoid breathing dust and wash thoroughly after handling. Do not mix with other chemicals. Store in the original closed container in a dry place. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and always read and follow the full label directions and precautions.

Why Choose BAQUACIL Flocculant?

It is the BAQUACIL-approved clarifier for both quick filter-aid fixes and full floc-and-vacuum clean-ups, at an easy price point.

Ideal For

  • Cloudy or hazy pool water
  • Clean-up after an algae bloom
  • Filter-aid step in BAQUACIL water mold treatment
  • Pools with a vacuum-to-waste setting

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use BAQUACIL Flocculant?

For heavy cloudiness, dissolve 1.5 lb per 10,000 gallons in a bucket of water, broadcast it, shut the pump off for 24 to 48 hours, then vacuum to waste.

Do I need to vacuum to waste?

Yes, when using it as a broadcast flocculant. Vacuuming the floc through your filter can clog it.

What is the difference between a filter aid and a flocculant?

A filter aid goes through the skimmer to help the filter catch fine particles. A flocculant is broadcast with the pump off so particles sink for vacuuming.

Can I use it in a chlorine pool?

Yes. It is compatible with chlorine, bromine and BAQUACIL pools.

Why is my BAQUACIL pool still cloudy?

Check the filter first; most persistent haze comes from a dirty filter. Then confirm sanitizer is 40–50 ppm and oxidizer is present.

How much do I need?

1.5 lb, one bottle, treats 10,000 gallons.
