Description
Four Months of FROG Minerals for Softer, Lower-Bromine Hot Tub Water
The FROG Serene Mineral Replacement Cartridge is the blue mineral cartridge for both FROG Serene systems, floating and in-line. Set it to #6, pair it with a Serene bromine cartridge and it works for 4 months in hot tubs up to 600 gallons.
The minerals help control bacteria so the system can hold bromine at just 1.0 to 2.0 ppm, which FROG says is up to 50% less than the ANSI minimum for hot tubs.
Less Bromine, Softer-Feeling Water
FROG minerals take on part of the sanitizing work, so the bromine cartridge only has to hold 1.0 to 2.0 ppm. FROG describes the result as cleaner, clearer, softer water with less chemical smell.
Set It Once for 4 Months
Turn the cartridge to #6 and leave it. There is nothing to adjust until the 4-month change, or your next drain and refill if that comes first.
One Cartridge for Both Serene Systems
The same blue cartridge snaps into the FROG Serene Floating System or the built-in FROG Serene In-Line holder in select Marquis, Caldera and Hot Spring hot tubs.

How to Use the FROG Serene Mineral Cartridge
- Balance and start up the water: After a fresh fill, balance total alkalinity, pH and hardness, then set a 1.0–2.0 ppm starting level with FROG Jump Start, one packet per 600 gallons.
- Turn the mineral cartridge to #6: Hold the bottom and turn the top until 6 shows in the setting window. FROG says no further adjustment is needed for the life of the cartridge.
- Set the bromine cartridge: Turn your FROG Serene bromine cartridge to the number on the setting chart for your hot tub's gallons.
- Install both cartridges: Floating System: push both cartridges into the green floater until they stay in place. In-Line System: with the jets off, snap the mineral into the area marked "Minerals" (top) and the bromine into the lower area of the holder.
- Keep bromine at 1.0–2.0 ppm: Test daily the first week and adjust only the bromine cartridge. Run the filtration at least 3 hours a day and shock weekly with FROG Maintain.
- Replace every 4 months: Swap the blue cartridge every 4 months or whenever you drain and refill, whichever comes first. Discard the old one even if media appears to be left inside.

Compatibility Notes
Before You Buy
- Fits both FROG Serene systems: the Serene Floating System and the Serene In-Line System found in select Marquis, Caldera and Hot Spring hot tubs (dealers also list Artesian).
- It must be paired with a FROG Serene bromine cartridge. The minerals do not replace the bromine; they let the system run at a lower bromine level.
- Treats hot tubs up to 600 gallons. Always set it to #6, whatever the size of your hot tub.
- Not for FROG @ease systems, which use their own mineral cartridge with SmartChlor.
- The cartridge holder or floater is not included. This listing is the replacement mineral cartridge only.
Which FROG Serene Cartridge Do I Need?
| Cartridge | Made For | Replace |
|---|---|---|
| FROG Serene Mineral Cartridge (blue) (this listing) | Serene Floating and Serene In-Line | Every 4 months, or at each drain and refill |
| FROG Serene Bromine Cartridge, 150 g (yellow) | Serene Floating and Serene In-Line | When empty, about every 2 to 4 weeks |
| FROG Serene In-Line Bromine Cartridge, 200 g (green) | Mainly Serene In-Line (also fits Floating) | When empty, about every 2 to 4 weeks |
| FROG Serene Cartridge Kit (1 blue + 3 yellow) | Serene Floating or In-Line refill | One mineral cycle plus three bromine changes |
| FROG Serene In-Line Refill (1 blue + 1 green) | Serene In-Line refill | One mineral cycle plus one bromine change |
| FROG @ease cartridges | FROG @ease systems only | Separate SmartChlor system, not interchangeable with Serene |
Colors help you tell them apart: blue is always the mineral, yellow is the 150 g bromine and green is the larger 200 g bromine, made mainly for in-line holders. Either bromine size fits both Serene systems.
How Long Each Pack Lasts
| Pack | One Hot Tub | Two Hot Tubs |
|---|---|---|
| 1 cartridge (this listing) | 4 months | One mineral change |
| 2 Pack | About 8 months | 4 months each for two hot tubs |
Assumes a change every 4 months. If you drain and refill sooner, FROG says to replace the mineral cartridge at that time, which shortens the supply.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the FROG Serene mineral cartridge last?
4 months. FROG says to replace it every 4 months or each time you drain and refill the hot tub, whichever happens first.
Does the mineral cartridge replace bromine?
No. It works alongside a FROG Serene bromine cartridge. The minerals let the system run at 1.0 to 2.0 ppm bromine, but you still need the bromine cartridge.
What setting do I use on the mineral cartridge?
Always #6. Hold the bottom, turn the top until 6 shows in the window and leave it there. Only the bromine cartridge is adjusted for hot tub size.
The cartridge still has media inside after 4 months. Should I keep using it?
No. FROG says to discard it even if media appears to be left. The minerals are spent after 4 months, and an old cartridge means the hot tub needs more bromine.
What color is the FROG Serene mineral cartridge?
Blue. In the Serene system, blue is the mineral cartridge, yellow is the 150 g bromine cartridge and green is the larger 200 g bromine cartridge, mainly for in-line holders. Either bromine size fits both systems.
Does it fit both the floating and in-line Serene systems?
Yes. The label reads for use in the FROG Serene In-Line System or the FROG Serene Floating System, so one cartridge covers either set-up.
What is inside the mineral cartridge?
The active ingredient is silver chloride at 0.5%. The Safety Data Sheet lists calcium carbonate as the main carrier at over 98% of the formula.
Why replace it when I drain and refill?
Fresh fill water starts over, and FROG's manuals tie a new mineral cartridge to every drain and refill so the minerals and the new water start together.
Can I use the Serene mineral cartridge with regular chlorine?
The label directions pair it with a FROG Serene bromine cartridge in a Serene floater or in-line holder. For a chlorine hot tub, FROG makes other systems, such as FROG @ease.
Is this the same as the FROG @ease mineral cartridge?
No. FROG @ease systems use their own mineral cartridge with SmartChlor. This blue Serene cartridge is made for the bromine-based Serene systems.
What size hot tub does it treat?
Up to 600 gallons. Larger hot tubs and swim spas need a different FROG product.
What is the part number and UPC?
FROG's order code is 01-14-3812, and the UPC on the cartridge is 722906038115. Some marketplace listings also show 852673896233 for this item.
How much bromine do the minerals save?
FROG says Serene runs at up to 50% less bromine than the ANSI minimum of 2.0 ppm, holding 1.0 to 2.0 ppm instead.
What happens if I forget to replace it?
FROG's troubleshooting guide says a mineral cartridge older than 4 months is ineffective, so the hot tub will need more bromine until a new blue cartridge goes in.
How long should my pump run with FROG minerals?
The label calls for running the pump and filter at least 3 hours a day so treated water keeps moving through the cartridges.
Safety Notes
Handle With Care
- The label carries a Caution signal word. Keep the cartridge out of reach of children and pets.

- Do not try to open, refill or reuse a spent cartridge. Discard it in the trash or recycle it where available.
- Store spare cartridges in the original packaging, tightly closed, in a cool, well-ventilated place.
